On The Young and the Restless, Victor Newman’s latest strategy to recover Newman Enterprises involves a dangerous scheme to use Lily Winters and her children as leverage against Cane.

It is a unnerving move, even for a man with a history of crossing ethical boundaries like the man is playing hop-scotch, to protect his legacy. Victor's (Eric Braeden) resort to using innocent family members as pawns in this war is a sign of an all new low in the ongoing power struggle with Cane (Billy Flynn) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). As soon as i heard this was the plan, I was shocked, not so much that Victor would stoop so low, that's just a given with him, but Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott)? really? Sometimes I wonder why Jack likes her.

The situation came to a head when Adam (Mark Grossman) finally revealed the plot to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) at Society. I knew this was going to be a bombshell straight away. Despite his growth as a father and his concerns for Connor (Judah Mackey), Adam found himself stuck between his father's crazy hunger for revenge and his own moral compass (he has one?). Chelsea was visibly perturbed (and thank goodness someone was) by the prospect of abducting Lily (Christel Khalil) and the twins, especially considering they are currently on opposite coasts. The sheer logistics of the plan are as much of a mess as its ethics.

Nikki's Surprise

Surprisingly, Nikki eventually forced the truth out of Adam and Chelsea at the ranch. Rather than recoiling in horror, Nikki appeared to embrace the ruthlessness of the idea. While she expressed concern (I'm sure this was fake) for the safety of those involved, she ultimately viewed the plan as a stroke of genius, provided Lily is brought into the fold. It’s a chilling reminder that when the Newman crown is at stake, Nikki is often just as uncompromising as her husband. This lady is the low key second most villaionous character in my honest opinion, and trusting her to do the right thing is like the frog and the scorpion tale. You're going to get stung.

While the Newmans plotted their worst idea yet, and there is quite the list to draw from, a hint of normalcy appeared at Crimson Lights. To end on a note that doesnt revolve around abducting children, (seems to be a theme at the moment) despite earlier declarations to Diane (Susan Walters) that his chapter with Claire (Hayley Erin) was closed, Kyle (Michael Mealor) found himself unable to stay away. After discussing the madness going on at Newman and the ever present, AI program, Claire managed to surprised Kyle by asking him to dinner. He accepted, proving that while the corporate world in Genoa City seems to be coming apart at the seams, the complicated pull between these two remains as weird and strong as ever. I think I'm going to have to look at that bit of storyline as the light among the dark, because seriously Victor? using children? I hope this backfires awfully on you.
