Friday's episode of The Young and the Restless left us with an exciting new storyline that's about to unfold. Cane hired Holden to go after Victor, but what exactly does he want Holden to do to him? That's the burning question!
Cane's chat with Holden on The Young and the Restless
Friday's episode of The Young and the Restless left us with a cliffhanger of sorts. Cane (Billy Flynn) is seeking revenge against Victor (Eric Braeden) for kidnapping Lily (Christel Khalil) and their twin children, Mattie and Charlie. He met with Holden (Nathan Owens) and gave him a new assignment, and Cane warned him that it would be ugly. Holden would be getting his hands dirty. Cane wants him to target Victor, but he didn't give any details. What does Cane want Holden to do?
It sounds like the Y&R writers are finally giving Holden an interesting storyline! He's been on the show since January 2025, and it's just now happening. Cane should have done this a year ago! But we suspect that Victor's plan to "kidnap" Lily and the twins was the straw that broke the camel's back for him. The Mustache has gone too far, so now, Cane is determined to make Victor pay. But this time, it doesn't sound like Cane will be using the AI program as his method of attack. Does he even have it anymore? Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) likely has it, since she chloroformed him and stole the Newman empire for herself!
This attack sounds more sinister, from the way Cane described it. Does he want Holden to physically harm Victor? Does he want him to burglarize the Newman ranch, provided that Holden can get past Victor's security team outside? That might not be hard to do, considering that the Newman security team hasn't always done the best job at keeping intruders away. Just ask Jordan (Colleen Zenk)!
If Holden targets Victor, then Claire will never forgive him
If Holden accepts this assignment, then the consequences could be disastrous for him. He wants to get back together with Claire (Hayley Erin), and he knows how loyal she is to Victor, her grandfather. If he agrees to do what Cane asks, and if he gets caught, then Claire will never forgive him. There is no way she will ever take Holden back.
She already doesn't trust him, because she senses that there's more to his L.A. secret than he told her. And, of course, there is. So, if Holden goes after Victor and gets caught somehow, then Claire will have two reasons to kick him out of her life.
So, Holden may want to think this through and ask himself, is going after Victor worth the risk of losing another shot with Claire? Holden has gone to great lengths to get her back, even trying to strike a deal with Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to keep Kyle (Michael Mealor) away from Claire. If Claire means that much to him, then he must realize what the ramifications of his actions will be if he goes after Victor.
Will Victor uncover Holden and Audra's L.A. secret?
The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman is a wealthy, powerful man who has all sorts of connections and people he calls when he wants to find out important information. If he finds out that Cane paid Holden to target him then will Victor do a background check on Holden? Will he somehow be the one who uncovers Holden and Audra's L.A. secret?
It seems that Cane's retaliation scheme against Victor may end up opening a big can of worms for Holden. Claire will be furious with him, and the Mustache may very well uncover not only the L.A. secret but possibly other shady things that Holden did in the past as well.

Holden still hasn't met Victor. He doesn't know yet what The Great Victor Newman is capable of. He may want to think twice before he goes up against him. Whatever Cane wants Holden to do to him, we can guarantee that it isn't going to end well for Holden.
