The Young and the Restless: Why is Sally suddenly okay with accepting Newman Media from Billy?

Ever since The Young and the Restless' Valentine's Day episode, Sally's actions haven't made much sense. Yes, it's nice that she and Audra are finally getting a chance to work together. But why did Sally suddenly decide to accept Newman Media, the company Billy gifted her -- a company that was acquired illegally? Wasn't that one of the very reasons why she didn't want Billy running Chancellor Industries again -- because Cane and Phyllis stole it from Victor?

Billy's Valentine's Day gift on The Young and the Restless

When The Young and the Restless' Billy (Jason Thompson) offered Sally (Courtney Hope) Newman Media on Valentine's Day, Sally was not happy at all with the gift. She was angry at him for accepting a company that he acquired illegally.

When he told her that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) double-crossed Cane (Billy Flynn) to obtain Newman Enterprises, Sally was upset over all the back-stabbing. She was livid that Billy assisted Phyllis. Sally was also offended that he was offering her one of Newman's stolen companies, which would make her an accessory to the crime.

And yet, Sally is now telling Audra (Zuleyka Silver) that she acquired NM as part of Billy's deal to reclaim Chancellor Industries -- and suddenly she doesn't seem to care about the illegal circumstances under which NM was acquired? What gives?

Sally told Adam she wants no part of what Billy is doing

When Sally later ran into Adam (Mark Grossman) at the GCAC, she assured him that she wants "no part of this." She made sure he knew that it was not her idea to run Newman Media and fold it into Abbott Communications. "That was Billy's idea, not mine," she said.

So, why is she going along with it now? What did we miss from her conversation with Billy on Valentine's Day? Didn't she reject his gift of NM, which is ill-gotten gains?

For months, Sally has been trying to turn Billy into a paragon of virtue. She's been trying to keep him on a straight and narrow path. She was angry that he acquired CI illegally, so she broke up with him. And yet, she's nonchalantly keeping Newman Media, which was also aquired illegally? How does that make her a paragon of virtue? What the heck is Sally thinking? This part of the storyline falls under the heading of "Soap writing doesn't make sense." Y&R writers, if you want us to keep liking Sally, then please explain what's going on here. Don't make her do a 180 on us.

Victor is going to be gunning for both Sally and Audra

The Young and the Restless' Victor (Eric Braeden) is going to do whatever it takes to reclaim Newman Enterprises. Once he finds out that "Billy Boy" gave Newman Media to Sally, the Mustache is going to charge full steam ahead and retaliate against her. By accepting NM, Sally has put herself in the line of fire -- and not only herself, but Audra as well (her best friend). Why is she doing that? Victor doesn't like either of these ladies. Once he finds out that they are now running NM, he's going to come after them with guns blazing!

Sally is supposed to be smarter than this. Her actions are contradicting what she told Billy and Adam. Do the Y&R writers think we're too stupid to notice this?

Audra is supposed to be smart, too. Why aren't either of these women considering the consequences of running a company that was stolen from The Great Victor Newman? Audra already has the L.A. secret that she's been keeping. She doesn't need any more problems to worry about. Why is she accepting a co-CEO position at a company that was stolen?

And what would Jill (Jess Walton) have to say about this? We can't imagine that she would pleased, considering that she's Abbott Communications' primary investor. If she's furious that Billy is running CI again (after it was stolen from Victor), then she should also be furious that Sally is running NM (since that was stolen from him, too).

See what we mean? None of this makes sense. Let's hope something soon happens on The Young and the Restless that clears up this confusion, because the writers are making Sally look bad. It's all well and good that she and Audra are finally working together, but the fact that Sally is merging Newman Media with Abbott Communications taints what the ladies are trying to accomplish. Please, writers, make it make sense. Some Y&R fans are calling Sally a hypocrite because of all the months she encouraged Billy to do the right thing, and now, she herself is not doing the right thing either.
