The Young and the Restless' Nick is suffering from a drug dependency that's getting worse with each episode. Jack, Nick's former stepdad, has struggled with an addiction to painkillers as well. If Jack lends Nick his support and helps him to recover, will Victor feel indebted to Jack, his archemy?
Nick took the bait on The Young and the Restless

Last Friday on The Young and the Restless, Matt (Roger Howarth) locked Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Adam (Mark Grossman) in a storage closet in their Vegas hotel. Nick spotted pills (apparently fentanyl) that Matt evidently left behind for him to take. While Adam was preoccupied with his phone call to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), his head turned the other way, Nick grabbed the chance to snatch the pills and put them in his pocket.
He never should have taken the bait Matt left for him. He knows Matt is trying to keep him hooked on drugs, which will prevent him from being able to get rid of Matt for good. Nick's addiction has only worsened since he came to Vegas. It's only a matter of time before he overdoses and ends up in the hospital. And knowing Nick, he won't stay there until he recuperates. The first chance he gets, he will sneak out and hunt for Matt.
Some Y&R fans believe that Jack (Peter Bergman) will lend his support to Nick, since Jack himself struggled with an addiction to painkillers after recovering from a gunshot wound years ago. If that happens, then how will Victor react, knowing that his longtime rival helped his son get clean and sober? Will the Mustache feel enough gratitude toward Jack to call a truce between them again?
Nick was Jack's stepson when Jack was married to Nikki

Nick is on good terms with Jack, as he was Jack's stepson when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Jack were married. It would make sense if Jack stepped up now to help Nick overcome his drug addiction, since Jack understands the inner demons that Nick is battling.
Since Jack helped Nikki overcome her addiction to alcohol, it makes sense that he would do the same for his former stepson. We would hope, though, that Jack wouldn't take the same drastic measures he took in the GCAC hotel room the night he saved Nikki's life, when he overdosed on pills and risked death to save her.
Victor has never gotten over his jealousy that Jack was the one who saved Nikki's life and not him. But it may be a different situation if Jack helps Nick. There wouldn't be anything for Victor to be jealous about, and hopefully, Jack would use a wiser approach to get through to Nick.
This could be the perfect solution for Jack and Nikki

Last week on Y&R, Jack and Nikki brainstormed possible solutions for repairing their broken marriages. It's difficult to soften Victor's heart where Jack is concerned, if not darn near impossible. But perhaps if Jack gave Nick some words of wisdom (even if it's simply sharing what he learned from his own personal experience with addiction), then would Victor be grateful enough to call off his attack on Jack and Jabot Cosmetics? If he did, then Nikki would reconcile with Victor.
This tactic might not repair Jack's marriage right away, but it might get the ball rolling. Diane would be thankful that Jack persuaded Victor to call off their feud, so at least Victor wouldn't be a constant thorn in the Abbotts' sides.
Victor is always talking about protecting his family. If Jack can somehow help Nick to get back on the road to sobriety, then just maybe Victor will feel indebted enough to co-exist peacefully with Jack and the other Abbotts. We miss the time when these two rivals had their truce. It was a welcome break from all the decades of war between them. Let's hope the Y&R writers put their truce back into effect, so we can concentrate on some of the other storylines that are just getting started.
