Monday's episode of The Young and the Restless left us with a mystery. Who was standing outside of Society, spying on Jack and Billy inside? The most obvious assumption is Diane, but was it someone else?
The mystery watcher on The Young and the Restless
On Monday's episode of Y&R, Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jack (Peter Bergman) were at Society, talking about Billy and Sally's (Courtney Hope) upcoming wedding. Billy asked Jack to be his best man and Jack happily said yes. When the two brothers stood up and hugged, we saw a lingering camera shot of Jack and Billy from outside the window of Society. Was someone watching them or was it just a random camera shot from the outside of the restaurant?
Jack and Kyle (Michael Mealor) have grown concerned over Diane not being to the Jabot Cosmetics office in two days. She hasn't slept in her bed at the GCAC either. If someone was watching Jack and Billy from outside of Society, was the person Diane? It seems a little odd that she would be watching Jack with his brother. If Jack had been with Kyle, then that would have made more sense, since Kyle is Jack and Diane's son.
Did Diane suffer a mental breakdown?
Perhaps Diane has been right there in Genoa City this whole time, but she hasn't been getting any sleep because she's too distraught after that nightmare she had a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it caused her to suffer a nervous breakdown, which is why she hasn't even reached out to Kyle. All the heartbreak she's been struggling with after seeing Jack in bed with Patty (Stacy Haiduk), coupled with that nightmare, could have caused her to shut out the world — including her work responsibilities.
Maybe Diane did watch Jack and Billy together, sharing a happy moment. But perhaps she's so upset because of Patty and that dream that she was afraid to go inside Society and talk to Jack. We haven't seen Diane since she had the nightmare. Perhaps she thinks Patty and Jack really do have a daughter out in the world somewhere and that bond that Jack shares with Patty is preventing Diane from reaching out to him.
Maybe Patty didn't kidnap Diane after all?
Jack immediately assumed that Patty snatched Diane and has her hidden somewhere, but maybe we are just led to believe tterrified ever since she waking from that nightmare about Jack leaving her for Patty. Maybe she experienced a break from reality and now she's too terrified to talk to Jack for fear that he will reject her (just like he did in the dream).
If our speculation is wrong and it wasn't Diane who spied on Jack and Billy, then who was it? The only other person who comes to mind is Patty, considering how determined she is to become the next Mrs. Jack Abbott. But she would need to get rid of Diane somehow. So did she?
Also, if Patty was the watcher, then why would the Y&R writers be mysterious about it? Patty has never been shy about expressing her interest in Jack. The whole Abbott family knows she wants him, except maybe Ashley (Eileen Davidson), considering that she's in France and may not know everything that's going on back in GC.
