Will Nikki’s Illness Give ‘Niktor’ New Life on Y&R?

Nikki Newman turned out to be more than sick with worry over her family on The Young and the Restless. She's got a serious condition that could be addressed with surgery, but there are no guarantees that she'll emerge unscathed! There could be a silver lining in her predicament, however, if it brings her and Victor back together!

Nikki learned from her doctor that she has a mass in her head, which could affect her vision. If Nikki doesn't have the surgery, then she could go blind. However, if she does have the surgery, she could lose her vision anyway, not to mention her life!

Victor probed Victoria (Amelia Heinle) for details on Nikki, but she did her best to deflect the matter. Back in the 1990s, Nikki was in a similar position. She had been shot by her psychotic maid, Sarah (AKA Veronica Landers), the ex-wife of Nikki's then-husband, Dr. Joshua Landers.

Nikki was hovering between life and death, and Victor, who remarried Nikki on her deathbed, willed his bride back to life. Victor and Nikki, though, aren't currently apart because they're married to other people. Victor kicked his wife out of their home after they reached an impasse regarding Victor's feud with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

Nikki has a history of keeping secrets from Victor when it comes to her health. She was facing a fatal disease back in the 1980s, but, fortunately, she went into remission. However, she kept this from Victor as she was afraid she'd lose him to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).

Victor was none too pleased when he discovered the truth! Years later, Nikki, married to Jack, fell from her horse and was in excrutiating backpain. She faced a similar decision -- have surgery to correct the injury and relieve the pain, but that came with the risk of ending up in a wheelchair for the rest of her life or losing her life as no surgery is 100% safe!

Love Will Find a Way

We could see Victor, once he finds out that Nikki is in jeopardy, putting aside his animosity towards Jack so that he could focus on his dear wife. Would Victor ever put the torch down when it comes to destroying Jack? Probably not.

However, Victor loves Nikki, whether he acts like it or not. If Nikki were to become temporarily blinded, we could see Victor adopting a fake identity to guide Nikki on her journey to health. If Victor sensed that Nikki was going to push him away, he would do everything he could to make sure that he found a way to stay in her life.

We'd know Victor truly cares about Nikki if he were to reach out to Jack for his help. Victor and Nikki have been down roads of estrangement before, and eventually, they always find their way back to each other. Hopefully, it won't be too long before Victor puts a ring back in Nikki's finger!
