Y&R Recap June 12: Nikki Struggled While Walking Up the Stairs at the GCAC

The Young and the Restless had characters interacting over some unresolved issues on the Friday, June 12, 2026, episode, as Matt tried to pull one over on Cane, Phyllis and Sharon bonded, and Nikki struggled to walk up some stairs.

Sally and Vicki caught up outside Chancellor Park Cafe. Sally apologized for the way she and Billy sprung all her news on Vicki. Vicki noted that Billy and her kids, Johnny and Katie, know about the baby. The two women joked that any tricks Johnny Katie might teach their new sibling will be because they take after Billy. Sally said she couldn't fit into her jeans anymore. Vicki said that Sally deserves to enjoy her pregnancy. Sally wondered if Vicki could reach out to Billy and admit that she was a little hard on him, now that the Newmans have their company back.

Sally said that Billy didn't activate the AI program. Vicki pointed out that Abbott Communications (now Spectra-Charles) had absorbed Newman Media. "Your company has more than doubled in size," Vicki pointed out. Sally shrugged that Adam didn't mention anything about that when she saw him. Vicki said that Adam was probably thinking about Sally's new baby and wedding.

Sally said this wasn't about business. It was about the new family that was being formed. Sally said she had a lot of decisions to make about her wedding, including whether to make it small and sweet or grand and elegant. Sally asked Vicki what she thought. Vicki said if she wanted grand and elegant, then she should go for it. Vicki said that she wanted what was best for both Sally and Billy.

Mothers and Daughters

Phyllis overheard Sharon talking on the phone lovingly to someone at Crimson Lights. Phyllis surmised that Sharon was talking to Mariah, and Sharon updated Phyllis that Mariah might be released next week. Sharon was hopeful that she'd get her daughter back home where she belonged. Phyllis was genuinely happy for Sharon.

Sharon wondered how things got so bad and then realized it was Ian Ward, who crept back into their lives. Sharon theorized that taking Dominic was a way of trying to center herself. Phyllis said it's always about kids, and that Summer and Daniel are all she has. "They're my center, my kids," Phyllis lamented.

"Martin Laurent was our Ian Ward," Phyllis pointed out to Sharon, suggesting that they were still recovering. Sharon and Phyllis shared that they still have nightmares about Martin. Phyllis reminded Sharon that they're bonded forever because of their ordeal. Sharon felt that Phyllis would get Summer back into her life. Phyllis said that one of the hardest things about their new friendship was admitting when Sharon was right. Both women reminded each other that they had saved each other's lives during Martin's ordeal.

Phyllis took a table by herself in the back of Crimson Lights. She reached out to Summer with a heartfelt message and asked her to reconnect. Next, Sharon approached Phyllis and asked her if she was okay. Phyllis said no, but she knew that they'd get there. Phyllis told Sharon that she was excited about Mariah coming home soon. The two women embraced.

Change of Battle Plans

At the Newman Ranch, Adam warned Matt not to go off script. Matt said they should back up. He needed Adam to understand something. Matt said the whole situation had changed. Matt told Adam that Sienna hitting him on the head with a rock had changed him. He remembered what he'd done, and he might do it again, but he's not doing that for now.

Matt said that he met Cane when he came to town. If Cane recognizes him, then Victor's plan doesn't work. Matt said he couldn't remember a lot of details about his interaction with Cane at the bar at the GCAC. Adam kept grilling Matt about what exactly happened. Matt said he can't remember being bad, so he's not sure he can go ahead with Victor's plan against Matt.

Matt pointed out that Adam didn't always do the right thing. Adam said he felt what it was like to be bad when he was back in Las Vegas. Matt said that he felt like he was in a horror movie where the audience is yelling don't go in the door. Adam said that Matt appeared to be the opposite of who he was before. Adam said Cane might not remember him. Matt said he'd give the plan a shot.

A Plan in Motion

Next, Adam introduced Matt to Sally as a family friend when he and Matt came upon Sally and Vicki at Chancellor Park Cafe. After Sally left, Vicki asked what Matt was doing there. Matt said he was right there as Vicki and Adam quarreled about him.

Matt assured Vicki that he wouldn't use any violence. Vicki wondered if the family could trust Matt. He said that his instinct was not to hurt his family. Adam said security would step in if Matt got the instinct to hurt the Newmans.

Then, Cane appeared. Adam thanked him for coming. Adam introduced Cane to Matt and Matt to Cane. Vicki said a civil meeting on neutral territory was in order. Adam said he was sorry that Cane was arrested in front of his staff at the GCAC. Adam said he was trying to smooth the waters. A suspicious Cane thought it was about something else. He wondered what kind of trap they were setting for him.

Adam said that Matt might be doing some work for the family. "So you're one of the gang now?" Cane asked. Matt asked Cane if he was Aristotle Dumas. Cane wanted to know why he wanted to know. Matt complimented Cane on his business genius. Matt put him up there right next to Victor. He said he was impressed by Cane.

Matt wanted to know from Cane how he did what he did as Aristotle. "Dumas was a mistake," Cane said. Adam pretended to spar with Matt in front of Cane. Matt asked Cane to talk to him about his next meteoric rise. Cane said maybe and then left. Vicki felt Matt came on a little strong. Adam called Victor to give an update on Matt's performance.

War of the Newmans

Nikki spotted Victor sitting at a table at the GCAC. "Well, hello," she said. Victor didn't respond. Nikki asked if she was being snubbed. Victor said hello without looking up from his phone, adding he was busy. Nikki asked what the hell Victor was thinking by bringing Matt to the ranch. Was he ordering linens for Matt Clark on his phone? Why was he letting Matt near their children and grandchildren?

Victor stated that whoever stays at the ranch is his business. Nikki was grateful that Matt saved Nick's life, but what if Matt became murderous again? Victor said he didn't control the cops in Las Vegas. Nikki lamented that the lifelong criminal goes free again because Victor knew best. Victor pointed out that Nikki doesn't deserve to know his plans. They threatened to continue to shut each other out.

Victor asked Nikki about her meeting with Nicholas. Nikki took a seat and shared with Victor that she was grateful Nicholas was letting her in to help him with his recovery. Nikki asked Victor how he could give Chancellor Industries back to Lily and not tell her. "Very simple. I did it." Victor stated.

Victor said Nikki chose Jack Abbott over her own husband. She had no right to know about his decision to give Chancellor Industries back to Lily. Nikki figured out that Chancellor Industries was Lily's reward for going ahead with the fake kidnapping. As Victor and Nikki continued to argue, Nikki reached for her head and reacted in pain. Nikki was surprised that Victor showed compassion as another painful attack occurred. She accused Victor of putting her through a great deal of stress.

Nikki found Victor's concern rather ironic, as he's the source of her pain. He told her to go upstairs, take her medicine, and call her doctor. Next, Nikki left the table and started walking up the stairs of the GCAC. Nikki's vision became blurry as she continued to try to make it to the top.
