The June 18, 2026 episode of The Young and the Restless featured Victor escalating his campaign against Cane, Nikki's health taking another troubling turn, and Cane realizing he may be walking into a trap.
Nikki's Health Takes Another Hit

Victoria caught Kyle in the middle of leaving Harrison a voicemail about pancakes and pajamas, and she incorrectly assumed he was in Milan visiting Summer. Instead, Kyle dropped the bombshell that he and Harrison were staying at the GCAC after being kicked out of the Abbott Mansion.
Nikki joined them and revealed that Patty had wormed her way into the Abbott household. She was using Diane's disappearance as a means to get into Jack's heart and his bed. Everyone tried to convince Jack that this was the wrong way to go about things, but he believed Patty was the only one who could locate Diane.
Nikki suffered another massive headache, and this time it nearly brought her to her knees. It was getting worse with no signs of recovery in the near future. Victoria was worried about her mother's health, but Nikki kept blaming it on the ongoing stress in her life.
Later on, Nikki went up to her suite, and she was writhing in pain. Downstairs, Victoria and Kyle grabbed a drink together so they could talk about the ongoing issues between all of their parents. They were forced to worry about their parents more than their parents had to worry about them.
Adam and Chelsea Question Victor's Plan

Chelsea and Adam met at Society, and she was less than enthusiastic about Connor being confused by Matt Clark walking around the ranch. The man who violated their entire family was suddenly welcome on the property simply because Victor suddenly had a use for him.
Chelsea asked Adam to be upfront about what Victor had planned for Matt, praying that it wasn't illegal. Adam explained that Matt was working to get intel on Cane and report it back to his father. However, Chelsea questioned to what end they were doing this. What was the goal? All it was doing was causing more turmoil in everyone's lives.
Chelsea couldn't understand why Victor would be concerned with Cane since he clearly won the war. He got Newman Enterprises back, and it didn't make sense to further provoke Cane. She also questioned how Nikki was handling Victor handing Chancellor to Lily because it was only going to deepen the rift in their marriage. The Newmans haven't rested in what feels like months, and this was only going to extend the conflict.
On the professional side of things, Adam and Chelsea were left adrift when Newman Media was folded into Spectra Charles. The only way to proceed and try to get it back would be to go up against Sally, and considering she is currently pregnant, there was no way Adam wanted to do that to her.
Adam suggested that he and Chelsea pursue a new avenue, something outside of the Newman corporate umbrella. Adam was seriously considering stepping away from working alongside Victor and his siblings. He no longer felt the need to prove that he belonged in the family. The only people he cared about impressing were Chelsea and Connor.
Victor had never been challenged in the same way that Cane challenged him. This was uncharted territory, but that didn't make it any less confusing that he was working with Matt. Just because Matt appeared to be a reformed man now doesn't mean he would stay that way. Patty was also walking around town claiming to be changed, so clearly people lie.
Victor Turns Matt Into a Pawn

At the ranch, Victor and Matt met for an update on everything that happened during his meeting with Cane. Matt was praised for a job well done during the first meeting, but now it was time to kick the scheme into the next gear. It was time to lure Cane into a trap so they could take him down.
Victor provided Matt with the tools to be successful in becoming an ally of Cane. However, he would remain tracked with a monitor because a security detail wasn't enough. Matt was a flight risk regardless of his alleged reformed status. If Matt passed this latest task, Victor would allow him to rejoin the general public.
Phyllis Gets Under Cane's Skin

Phyllis ran into Cane at Crimson Lights, and she immediately requested an apology for the last time they encountered each other. He blamed her for being responsible for their legal troubles, and she wanted some appreciation for saving him. Had she not returned Newman back to Victor, he would be facing serious jail time.
Cane wondered how Phyllis could turn being forced to give the company back into something heroic, but isn't that classic Phyllis? She also took credit for Cane running Chancellor because she handed the company to Victor and he, in turn, gave it to Lily. Had Phyllis not done the right thing and given it back, Cane would still be out of a job.
She tried to get inside Cane's head and teased whatever she got out of her arrangement with Victor. He finally took the bait, and she was overjoyed to reveal that she was the new owner of Arabesque. Cane's entire demeanor changed when she told him about running his company, but he kept a straight face and claimed that it didn't bother him. She was working overtime to get under his skin, but Cane refused to give her the satisfaction of seeing him squirm.
Cane stopped Phyllis before she walked away from the coffee shop to discuss her children. He wished that her children would finally start giving her the time of day, but she hadn't heard from Summer and Daniel had washed his hands of her. He revealed that Mattie and Charlie had reached out, and she praised him for the selfless act of saving Malcolm's life.
Matt reached out to Cane, and Cane was suspicious about why he wanted to meet with him. Matt claimed that he wanted some insight about business and to pick his brain. However, it was clear that Cane was onto Matt and was already thinking that Victor was using him as a pawn in a larger game of chess.
Phyllis watched as Cane met with Matt, and Cane stopped him in his tracks and cut right to the chase. He demanded to know what Victor was up to.
