On the Wednesday, October 14, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Nick and Sharon dealt with Matt, Phyllis bragged some more, and Victor was amused at Phyllis' expense.
The Scene at Society

When Phyllis spotted Nick at Society, she sat right down and asked her ex if he had been avoiding her. Nick grumbled that he hadn't. Phyllis got serious and told Nick she would be there for him no matter what. She was surprised that he had Matt on the brain and asked if Nick had heard from him.
Nick informed Phyllis that Matt and Patty had left town, but there had been a car crash and now neither one of them was anywhere to be found. Nick thought it was all a scheme, but Phyllis defended Matt once again. Nick tried to convince Phyllis that Matt hadn't changed and wanted her to stop living this fantasy life. She didn't really know the guy.
They didn't get much further with their conversation because Adam appeared to drag Nick away. Adam had news for his brother. The cops found Joe and the drug dealer was claiming that Nick had beaten him and left him in an alley to die. Clearly, Burrow needed Nick to come in for questioning, but Nick defended himself.
He said all he had done was take Joe's drugs and flush them down the toilet. He wasn't using and he was just trying to get drugs off the street. If it was just a few pills, he had at least done a service. Adam tried to be understanding, so Nick thanked him for stepping up for the family recently, but he had something else he had to do.
Nick asked Adam to tell Burrow he would be there, but with Matt on the loose somewhere, Nick was worried about Sharon and needed to see her. After Nick walked away, Adam sat down with Phyllis and gave her the third degree. How did she ever come up with the cash to buy all that real estate?
Phyllis got high on her horse and said she didn't have to tell him a thing. She had Lauren and Daniel on her side and she would show all of them what she could do. Arabesque would be bigger and better than Newman Enterprises by far. Adam and Phyllis went back and forth for a few more rounds, seeing who could best the other.
When Adam was gone, Phyllis dropped the tough demeanor and called Matt. She left him a message asking him to check in. She had heard about the accident and wanted to know that he was okay.
Adam Has News For Victor

After leaving Society, Adam dropped by the ranch to update his father on the latest about Nick. He told Victor that Nick claimed he had only taken the drugs off Joe to flush them down the toilet. However, Nick was now obsessed with Matt again, which could become a problem.
The subject then turned to Phyllis. Victor could only laugh and make snide remarks when Adam informed him that Phyllis planned to topple NE. That would never happen on Victor's watch. "You know she'll lose. In the end, they all do," Victor declared.
Nick and Sharon Deal With Matt

The scene at Sharon's cottage grew intense as Sharon realized that Matt was there. Matt claimed that he had hidden in the trunk of her car when she'd left Crimson Lights for the night, which is how he'd gotten past security. Sharon backed away as Matt came toward her and claimed he had only wanted her help.
Sharon demanded that Matt leave, but he refused. He couldn't leave. An emotional Matt broke down and begged Sharon to help him.
"I want all of it to stop. The thoughts and the violence and all this pain. Make it go away. Please make it go away," he shouted. "The darkness is back. It's trying to control me, Sharon. It's trying to dominate and it's eating me alive."
Maybe Sharon could help bring him into the light again. Sharon tried to keep Matt calm, so she brought him some water as he lost his mind.
Matt was sure that Sharon could help. She was compassionate and a therapist. Matt was in tears by the time he told Sharon that he didn't even know who he was. He couldn't even get Patty to turn herself in and now he was having an argument with his own self in his own head.
"When I came to, things were different. Like a live wire in my brain...it's just sparking all of the old feelings. Hatred, evil, need to destroy everyone..." Matt explained. "Sharon, you have to help me stop this. I'm scared. I'm really scared. I don't know what's going to happen if I stay like this."
Matt could see that Sharon was eyeing the fire poker and he didn't care. "End me, put everyone out of their misery," he said. Sharon told Matt she didn't want killing him on her conscience.
Matt knew he was a monster, but also swore there was good in him. Sharon wanted Matt to speak to an expert on this, but she wasn't one. Matt was sure Sharon was the only one who could help. It was why he'd always been drawn to her.
A terrified Sharon did her best to talk Matt down, telling him that he could beat back the voices in his head and could make better choices. Matt wasn't sure if he could ever change, so Sharon told him that the old Matt would have already hurt her and not be asking for help.
Soon, Nick showed up and was shocked to see that Matt was there. Sharon now had to keep two men calm, so she told Nick that Matt was just asking for help because he had wanted to change for the better. Nick didn't believe that for a second and told Matt he was going to end him.
A dejected Matt didn't seem to care and told Nick to just do it. Matt stood there all forlorn as Nick and Sharon bickered about their next step. Sharon wanted Nick to be reasonable, but Nick was way past that point. "This is my living room and we're going to do this my way, not yours," Sharon insisted.
Matt couldn't take much more, so he shouted at the pair that the voices in his head were growing a little too loud.
Sharon tried to be compassionate, but Nick wanted to end Matt once and for all.
