On the Monday, October 5, 2026 episode of The Young and the Restless, Daniel and Summer hesitated to trust Phyllis, Adam and Victor worried about Nick, and Patty objected to Matt’s plan.
Perfectly Legal

At the Chancellor Park Café, Cane informed Phyllis that she was the proud owner of the Athletic Club and the office building across from Newman Enterprises. He wondered if she wanted the properties as a status symbol or if she just needed a shiny new toy since Matt had left her. Cane warned that he’d learned the hard way that actions had consequences.
Phyllis sincerely stated that she was glad Cane had turned things around with Lily and his kids, but her children were a hard sell. Cane advised her to make the people she loved a priority and use his history as Aristotle Dumas as a cautionary tale, since he’d ended up with nothing in the end. Cane questioned how she was able to pay top dollar for the buildings. Phyllis admitted that she’d taken out multiple loans to bet on herself.
Daniel was surprised to see Phyllis and Cane together. After Cane left, Phyllis revealed that she’d legally taken out several loans to acquire the two properties. Daniel argued that it was an unnecessary expense that didn’t fit with Arabesque’s business model, and he asked why she’d really bought them. Phyllis praised his corporate mentality and hoped he’d give her another shot by agreeing to work for her.
Daniel demanded to know whether Phyllis had bought the buildings as a revenge scheme. Phyllis asserted that owning the properties would give her an identity in Genoa City. Daniel voiced concern about how she’d repay the loans. Phyllis conceded that she was marking her territory by reminding Victor that she was in the game. Daniel called Summer and requested that she talk sense into their mother.
Phyllis excitedly took Daniel’s phone and peppered Summer with questions. Phyllis became choked up when it became clear that Summer had no interest in chatting about her life. Phyllis took full responsibility for everything that had caused the rift in their family. Phyllis pleaded for the three of them to be a family again, but Summer made an excuse to end the call. Daniel stressed that he and Summer had to feel like Phyllis had learned something before they could trust her again.
To Tell or Not to Tell

At Society, Lily lamented to Nate that she hadn’t received news from her doctors yet because the lab was backed up. Lily shared that she’d been close to telling Cane what was going on, but she hadn’t been able to do it. She contemplated whether she didn’t truly trust him. Nate urged Lily to follow what was in her heart.
Lily admitted that her heart was saying she could trust Cane, but her head overthought everything. Nate anticipated that opening up to Cane would help relieve some of the burden she was carrying. Lily hesitated to freak everyone out, and she resolved to keep things quiet until she knew for sure. Devon overheard and asked if she was keeping secrets again.
Lily shared that there was a chance her cancer was back, and she was waiting for the results of tests she’d had performed in Chicago. Lily swore that she hadn’t intended to leave Devon out, but she hadn’t wanted to say anything until she knew more. Devon hugged her and assured her she wasn’t alone. Cane walked in and guessed from Lily’s expression that something had happened.
Lily fibbed that she and Devon had just been reminiscing about how much they missed working together. Devon and Nate headed to the bar, and Cane pondered whether he should risk making Devon angry by kissing Lily hello. Lily replied that she’d love nothing more than for him to kiss her, and Cane obliged as Devon scowled. Cane sensed that Lily was holding something back. She conceded that there was something, but it had nothing to do with him. She promised she would tell him when the time was right.
Meanwhile, Nate was stunned when Devon declared that Lily should tell Cane. Devon recognized that Cane had stepped up for Lily when she’d first been diagnosed, and Lily should turn to Cane if it was what she needed.
Suspicious Corroboration

At the new Newman ranch, Adam reported to Victor that Nick wasn’t answering his phone and hadn’t shown up at the office that day. Adam suspected Nick was hiding something from them and possibly the cops, too. Victor shared that his men hadn’t had any luck finding Joe. Adam worried that Nick might have done something rash.
Detective Burrow stopped by to see if Victor could corroborate Nick’s story. Burrow was skeptical when Victor’s version of events matched Nick’s exactly. Victor questioned when the police would finally arrest the drug dealer. Burrow reported that Joe hadn’t been seen since his altercation with Nick. After Burrow left, Victor pledged to find Nick before something more serious happened.
Road to Nowhere

As Matt and Patty drove away from Genoa City, she marveled that they were going wherever they wanted to go, and she envisioned settling down, getting jobs, and changing their names. Matt flatly stated that none of it would happen because she was wanted for attempted murder. Matt hoped they could talk about her turning herself in, but Patty refused to listen to what he had to say.
Matt reasoned that Patty was a wanted fugitive, so they couldn’t live happily ever after. Patty accused Matt of playing her by making her believe she could live a normal life when he just wanted her out of the way so he could go back and play house with Phyllis. Matt insisted that he and Phyllis were done, but he couldn’t live his life constantly checking the rearview mirror. Patty proclaimed that she wasn’t scared of anything, and when she wanted something, she just took it.
Matt pressed to know why Patty was the way she was. Patty denied that she’d had a traumatic childhood, citing wonderful parents and brothers. She blamed Diane for causing her “occasional mental episodes,” but Matt lectured that they couldn’t hold others responsible for their actions. Matt believed that being sorry for the things they’d done might be their way out of a life of madness.
Patty defended that she wouldn’t change a thing about herself. She contended that people had threatened her happiness, and they’d needed to be taught a lesson. Matt agreed that she deserved to be happy, but not by making other people pay. Matt inquired about Patty’s best childhood memory, and she recalled a day her busy father had devoted to taking her to the zoo, riding the carousel, and getting ice cream. Matt wondered what that sweet little girl would think of the things adult Patty had done.
Matt encouraged Patty not to think of turning herself in as the end of her life. He promised to be a friend to her and make sure she got to a place that would help her. “I would rather die than be locked up again,” Patty hissed, and she grabbed the steering wheel and tried to crash the car.
