Y&R Recap September 21: Sally Asks Chelsea to Be a Bridesmaid, Billy Objects to Adam at the Wedding

On the Monday, September 21, 2026 episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea agreed to part of Sally’s wedding party, Jack’s support of Nikki infuriated Diane, and Victoria and Kyle planned another rendezvous.

Why Can’t We Be Friends?

At the Athletic Club, Billy reeled from Sally’s announcement that she wanted Chelsea to be one of her bridesmaids. Sally explained that after her latest conversation with Chelsea, she felt the past had become the past with no more tension. Billy wasn’t sure how he’d feel to see Chelsea standing up for Sally, but he vehemently objected to Adam being at the wedding. Sally urged Billy to focus on their family and let go of the rest.

Billy stated that he saw the worst day of his life when he looked at Adam, and he didn’t want to see that on one of the best days of his life. Sally decided not to ask Chelsea to be part of the wedding party, but Billy thought Chelsea would appreciate the gesture and might understand why they didn’t want Adam to be there. Billy pledged not to stand in the way if Sally wanted Chelsea there – as long as Sally wasn’t reconnecting with Adam.

Sally admitted that she and Adam had connected over Ava, but it had been good for them. Sally opted to look at Adam without seeing pain or grief but only remembering someone who’d once been an important part of her life. Billy reiterated that he’d never want Adam at the wedding in a million years, but he’d be willing to tolerate it because he loved Sally. Sally swore that it wouldn’t matter who was at the wedding because she’d only be looking at Billy.

At the Chancellor Park Café, Chelsea told Adam about how she’d talked an overwhelmed Sally down from having a meltdown. Chelsea recalled that she and Sally had been friendly at Marchetti before things had gotten ugly. Adam supported the idea of Chelsea and Sally being friends, but he thought he and Billy would always be some version of enemies. Chelsea thought she and Sally had a lot in common, but it might be too much to hope they could be friends.

Connor sent a text message to Adam and Chelsea to let them know he was on his way to class, and Chelsea interpreted it as an indication not to bug him. Connor also mentioned having tryouts later. Adam and Chelsea marveled at how their son had branched out. Sally called Chelsea and requested that they meet in person to talk again. After they arranged to meet at the café, Chelsea worried that she’d overstepped.

Bridal Party

Later, Sally joined Chelsea and apologized if she’d been a bit much earlier. Chelsea panicked that she’d done something to make things worse. Sally insisted that she was grateful for everything Chelsea had done to help her, noting that they’d soon be extended family because of the connection with their stepchildren. Sally proclaimed that she wanted her baby’s world to be filled with joy, acceptance, and forgiveness, and she asked if Chelsea would consider being part of her wedding as a bridesmaid.

Chelsea stammered that she was touched. Sally figured that she was being selfish because Chelsea had a calming presence, and Chloe wouldn’t be able to attend the ceremony. Sally told Chelsea to forget she’d asked, but Chelsea happily accepted. Chelsea guessed Adam wasn’t invited, nor would he want to be there. The women agreed that they had a lot in common, so it only made sense that Chelsea should be there. They hugged.

Adam greeted Billy at the Athletic Club bar, and they exchanged barbs. Billy revealed that Sally intended to ask Chelsea to be a bridesmaid. Adam assumed Chelsea would accept, noting that the women seemed to be forming a friendship. Billy ordered Adam to find any excuse to make himself scarce. Adam taunted that he wanted to see what Billy might do if he showed up. Adam suggested that Billy save him a front-row seat, just in case.

At the tack house, Nikki sniffed perfume and declared the fragrance lovely. Victoria complained about the sponsorship deal Audra had demanded in exchange for her patents, but Nikki insisted it was worth it to go to market as quickly as possible instead of spending months creating something new. Nikki excitedly shared her plans for the company, but Victoria worried that Victor would get involved. Nikki considered her husband’s encouragement to be progress and an act of love.

At the Abbott mansion, Detective Burrow called Jack to report that there was still no sign of Patty. Diane groused that Patty’s reign of terror was supposed to be over. Jack promised that they would enjoy every moment together, but Diane jumped when there was a knock at the door. Diane glowered as Jack invited Nikki in.

Nikki expressed relief that Jack’s heart attack had been a hoax. Nikki announced that she’d set Valentine’s Day as the relaunch date for Vibrante. Diane huffed that Nikki showed confidence despite the lack of inventory or brand recognition. Nikki stressed that she wasn’t interested in a battle between brands. Diane imagined that Nikki would eventually need to take the gloves off, and it was exactly what Victor was waiting for.

Nikki asserted that Victor didn’t control Vibrante or her; she simply wanted to put the Abbotts’ lingering concerns to rest. Jack said he trusted her, but Diane anticipated that Nikki would resort to sabotage if things were slow getting out of the gate. Jack vowed to keep his promise to Nikki to share his knowledge of the marketplace, and he wasn’t worried about Jabot taking a hit. Diane advised Nikki to temper her expectations.

After Nikki left, Diane ranted about Nikki flouncing past security to get in her face and flirt with her husband. Jack defended that Nikki was a friend, but Diane argued that Jack would crush any other competitor before they made it market instead of acting like a mentor. Diane found it suspicious that Nikki had run to Jack with updates, but Jack thought Diane was overreacting. Diane accused him of putting his friendship with Nikki above her feelings yet again.

Victoria smiled when she saw an incoming call from Kyle. They both adopted polite business tones with underlying sexual innuendo as they made plans to meet later. She sent him an “agenda” via text message, but his expression indicated it had nothing to do with business.

As Victoria and Kyle continued to exchange heavily suggestive responses, Nikki returned to the tack house and noticed Victoria was flushed. Nikki voiced concern that Victoria was sick, but Victoria insisted she was fine. Victoria sent Kyle an urgent message, requesting to meet as soon as possible.
