Y&R Recap September 23: Wedding Guest Drama Starring Adam and Jill

On the Wednesday, September 23, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Sally and Billy's wedding and the drama it brings seemed to be the hottest conversation topic in town.

When Cane and Billy ran into one another at Crimson Lights, Cane jokingly asked Billy if he was on the wedding guest list. Billy wasn't in the mood, so he gave it right back to Cane and said, if he handed him over Chancellor, then he could gladly come. Billy then got serious and said it was fine if Cane came as Lily's plus one.

"So Chancellor is the price of admission to attend your wedding?" Cane asked. Billy said he thought it was worth it, but then clarified that he was just joking.

The topic of Jill then came up. Cane said he had just spoken with Billy's mother earlier that day. Billy reiterated that he and his mother were not speaking, but Cane made a good point when he reminded Billy that his mother was older and had health issues. He shouldn't waste any time that he still had left with her.

Billy asked Cane why it was so important to him to see a truce between him and Jill. Cane got honest and admitted that he cared what happened to both of them. He knew from experience that you can't turn back time and get the time back that you lose. Billy was adamant that Jill would not be at the wedding.

"My mother has given me so many sad days, but this wedding day will not be one of them," Billy insisted. Cane knew he would one day regret that choice.

Bridesmaids Business

At the GCAC, Chelsea couldn't wait to tell Adam the crazy news that Sally had asked her to be one of her bridesmaids. Chelsea was touched and thrilled. She and Sally could finally be friends again after all that had happened. Sally was surprised that Adam already knew the big news because Billy had already informed him.

Chelsea worried that any confrontation between Adam and Billy on this would ruin the inroads she had made with getting back into Sally's good graces. Adam insisted that Billy was the instigator in any argument that may have taken place. Billy even made it clear that Adam was not to attend the wedding, despite Chelsea being a bridesmaid. Adam had said that was up to Chelsea.

Chelsea wanted Adam to be there, but was afraid of what might happen. He had to be on his best behavior. Although Adam once again pointed out that Billy absolutely did not want him at the wedding, Chelsea waffled. Chelsea was still nervous that Adam wouldn't be able to control himself and make too many snide remarks.

Chelsea was just happy that everyone was learning how to show grace and get along, as it had been a long, tough road. Adam finally made up his mind and decided not to go. He felt that Sally was making a big mistake and didn't want to witness it happen. Chelsea grew frustrated and asked Adam to just smile and be nice.

Adam didn't think he could pull it off. He had tried to be happy for Sally, but he just couldn't do it. Chelsea warned Adam that Sally was going to go through with this whether he liked it or not. Finally, Adam agreed to go and behave himself. Chelsea was thrilled and even wanted Connor to be there, but Adam thought he was best off at school.

Sally Breaks the News

When Sally and Audra met up at The Shadow Room to discuss wedding plans, Sally had to break the news that Chelsea will be replacing the missing Chloe as a bridesmaid. Audra was at a loss and wondered how something like this had happened. Sally explained that she had a panic attack at the GCAC and Chelsea got her through it.

Chelsea was kind to her and Sally was glad they were able to look past their damaged history. Sally decided she just wanted peace and to bury the hurt from the past, so she asked Chelsea to be a part of the wedding. Audra reminded Sally of how much Chelsea hurt her, but Sally was pragmatic about it. What had happened led her here and she was now the happiest she had ever been in her life.

Audra still felt that was a big mistake and reminded Sally that Chelsea had spent much of her life as a con artist. She didn't feel that Sally could trust Chelsea at all. When Sally hinted that Audra could be jealous, Audra denied the accusation. "Look, I'm only saying it because if the situation were reversed, I would feel the exact same way," Sally said. She then told Audra not to worry because they were sisters for life. Nobody could take Audra's place.

Audra grew slightly vulnerable (for Audra) and admitted she hadn't had many girlfriends in her life. She was determined to be happy for Sally, even if Chelsea would be at the wedding. Audra asked if Chelsea would be bringing Adam. While Sally didn't want to ask Adam to stay away, she just assumed he'd be wise enough not to come.

When Billy arrived, Audra asked him for his thoughts on the Adam and Chelsea situation. Billy agreed to grin and bear it for Sally's sake, but he certainly didn't like it. After Audra left, Sally had a surprise for Billy. Jill was indeed coming to the wedding. She and Sally had been texting and she wanted her future mother-in-law to be there. Billy started to grow tense, claiming even her name upset him and the baby would be better off growing up without her in its life.

As for Audra, she ended up at Crimson Lights where she ran into Cane and needled him about the wedding guest list. When she walked away, Cane picked up his phone and texted Jill.
