Y&R Recap September 28: Kyle Surprises Victoria with a Secret Hideaway, Phyllis Has an Offer for Cane

On the Monday, September 28, 2026 episode of The Young and the Restless, Victoria and Kyle played a sexy game, Matt supposedly left town, and Cane was suspicious of Phyllis’ offer.

Love Nest

Victoria exited an elevator and checked the room number on a door before entering a furnished apartment. Kyle appeared, and Victoria pointed out that she should be at work. Kyle silenced her with a kiss.

Kyle mixed two mimosas and reasoned that the motel had been too risky. Victoria realized the apartment was the surprise he had mentioned. Kyle considered it a safe place where they wouldn’t have to worry about being seen. Victoria remarked that they had some work to do to make it their own.

Kyle suggested that he and Victoria play a game to get to know one another better by answering yes-or-no questions that started with “have you ever.” Victoria preferred games with something to win or lose, and Kyle proposed that they each remove a piece of clothing every time they answered “yes.” She grabbed her phone and canceled her morning meetings. He revealed that he’d already canceled all his meetings before she’d arrived.

Kyle read questions from his phone, and he and Victoria each removed a piece of clothing when asked if they’d ever gotten fired from a job. When a question popped up about skinny dipping, Victoria recalled when Kyle had accidentally skinny dipped at a Jabot sunscreen launch. He offered to reenact the moment another time, adding that she wouldn’t get his clothes off that easily. The next question was if they’d ever had hot, passionate sex with someone they shouldn’t, and they both stripped off another item of clothing.

A short time later, Victoria and Kyle were clad only in their underwear. He teased that they could opt to just stop the game and keep the rest of their clothes on, but she countered that one of them could just forfeit. They resumed kissing, and he carried her to the bedroom to have sex.

Later, as Victoria got dressed, she approved of the apartment but wanted to add a few touches to make it more personal. Victoria and Kyle doubted their families knew anything was going on between them. Kyle admitted that he enjoyed the adrenaline rush from the fear of being caught, and he loved every minute of sneaking around with Victoria.

When Victoria prepared to leave, Kyle stated that he felt like he knew her better after playing the game, pointing out that they’d both broken up with someone over a text message. She cautioned him against doing that to her but quickly clarified that they weren’t dating. They planned to meet at their secret rendezvous going forward. They kissed goodbye.

One Foot Out the Door

Nick dropped by the new Newman ranch and told Victor that he looked forward to getting back to work, but recalled that his father hadn’t supported his first effort to return to Newman. Nick assured Victor that he was feeling strong and rejuvenated. Victor insisted that Nick reach out to a counselor or Nikki if he felt challenged. Suddenly, one of Victor’s men escorted Matt into the home.

Nick demanded to know why Matt was still in town. Matt explained that he’d needed to tidy up some loose ends because he wouldn’t be traveling alone. Nick refused to let Matt leave town with Phyllis. Matt was happy someone would be looking out for Phyllis once he was gone. Matt divulged that he was leaving with Patty to help keep her from continuing to torture the citizens of Genoa City.

Matt shared his plan to convince Patty that it would be best for her to turn herself in, hoping it would allow the Newmans to finally accept that he was a changed man. Matt added that he would stay in town if he thought he had half a chance of proving his past was behind him, but his only shot at having a future was to get out of there and stay gone.

Nick warned that things would end badly if Matt ever went near anyone Nick cared about again. Matt thanked Victor and Nick for not ending him, and he was grateful for the chance to apologize and mean it. Matt was glad that he’d saved Nick’s life because he didn’t remember any other time he’d helped someone else unless it had benefited him, and it had felt good. Matt reminded Nick that Phyllis was an incredible person who could use support.

After Matt left, Nick conceded that it had seemed like Matt had changed. Victor urged Nick to forget Matt and move on. Victoria arrived at the ranch, and Victor observed that he’d never seen her more radiant. Nick added that she was practically glowing. The men updated Victoria about Matt’s departure, and Nick imagined it would make it easier for him to focus on work. Victor marveled that nothing made him happier than seeing Victoria and Nick working side by side at the company he’d created for them.

Phyllis’ New Plan

At the Athletic Club, Billy overheard Cane on the phone, bragging about how Chancellor was at the forefront of modern technology. Cane told Billy that the company was poised to break new ground in medical research using AI. Cane hoped Billy found some solace in knowing the company was doing well. Billy swore that he wanted Chancellor to succeed.

Cane mentioned that he’d talked to Jill, who was thrilled that Billy had invited her to the wedding. Billy explained that he’d done it for Sally, but he anticipated that there would be a blowup at the wedding with Jill in attendance. Phyllis interrupted and assumed trouble was brewing upon seeing the men together.

Phyllis surmised her invitation to Billy and Sally’s wedding had been lost in the mail. She figured she couldn’t go anyway because she was too busy working hard to rebuild Arabesque. Phyllis contemplated trying to lure Cane back to Arabesque, noting that they’d made a good team. Cane said he was flattered, but he declined. After Billy left, Cane sensed that something else was going on with Phyllis.

Cane conceded that he didn’t want to see Phyllis or Arabesque crash and burn. He contemplated why she’d make him an offer if things were going well. Phyllis shared that she wanted to buy the properties Cane had purchased when he’d returned to town, including the Athletic Club. Cane guessed that she intended to follow his original plan to use Arabesque to go after all the other companies in Genoa City.

Kyle picked up coffee at Crimson Lights, and Billy noticed his nephew grinning. Kyle allowed Billy to think it was about Jabot’s sales numbers. Kyle swore he and Jack would plan something memorable for Billy’s bachelor party. Billy raved about how Kyle had stepped up for the family, and he encouraged Kyle to enjoy his parents’ pride in him because it was a gift some people never received. Billy envisioned that if Kyle kept making good decisions, he’d stay the golden boy forever.
