Y&R Recap September 30: Nick Vows Revenge as Marie ODs

On the Wednesday, September 30, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Nick has a very bad night as Adam delivers some very bad news.

Adam Surprises Victor and Nikki

Victor and Nikki made their usual small talk in the living room. Victor was impressed with his sweetheart and all she had accomplished with Vibrante in such a short amount of time. The subject soon turned to Nick and how glad they were that he was doing so well, but they still worried.

Nikki knew all too well that Nick would face unexpected challenges as she had with her alcohol addiction and hoped Jack would be Nick's sponsor. Victor knew that Nick needed someone, but he wanted it to be anyone but Jack Abbott. Nikki told Victor that was Nick's decision to make and nobody else's.

Adam appeared and interrupted their conversation with some bad news. Marie had been found at that motel and had overdosed again. She was in the hospital, but he was afraid of letting Nick know. Nikki and Victor agreed that this could cause Nick to have a setback.

Victor asked Adam not to print the story, but Adam knew that Nick could find out another way. Victor realized Adam was right, so they decided that the family had to tell Nick together.

At Crimson Lights, Esther and Nick made some small talk as Esther was happy to see Nick looking so well. However, Nick was not well at all when he spied his old dealer walking into the coffee house. Joe told Nick that he had seen Marie earlier, which confused Nick.

When Sharon arrived, she got rid of Joe and tried to talk to an agitated Nick. She took him onto the patio and told him to take some deep breaths. All Nick could do was snap at Sharon and tell her to stop playing therapist with him. Esther also wanted to help calm Nick and brought some herbal tea out.

After Nick calmed down, he apologized for his attitude. Nick was starting to realize he might need a sponsor after all. He had turned down Jack, but that might have been a mistake. Nick was worried about Marie, however. He had no idea why Nick would mention Marie when she had said she was headed back east to stay with her parents.

Sharon believed that Joe was just trying to get under Nick's skin. She didn't want him to think too much about it. Just then, Adam called and asked Nick to come to the ranch to talk. He assured him that this was not about Matt. Nick told Sharon goodbye and headed toward the ranch.

After Nick was gone, Sharon and Esther discussed what had just happened. Esther had seen this kind of thing during her years working for Katherine and knew what it was like to watch someone go through addiction. Esther was sure that Nick would get through this and make it fully to the other side and one of the reasons was because of Sharon.

Victoria Gets the Call

Kyle ran into Victoria and Claire at Society and decided to sit down with them, which made things completely awkward for Victoria, who tried to keep her cool. Things grew even more uncomfortable as Claire and Kyle made small talk about Harrison. Claire said that Harrison would text her from Italy frequently.

Victoria felt a bit more comfortable when Claire received a text from Holden, who was enjoying his father-son time with Malcolm in London. Claire decided it was time for her to go, leaving Kyle and Victoria alone at the table together. Victoria admitted that the entire conversation with Claire seemed odd and awkward.

While they didn't feel any guilt or regret over what they were doing, they decided that it needed to remain their little secret. Kyle said that this was different from what had happened with Claire. This was passion and chemistry, plus Claire had moved on, so there was no reason to feel guilt. Kyle liked the secrecy of it all because it kept things hot.

Victoria and Kyle made things more clandestine than ever by giving each other texting code names. They were now Boris and Natasha from the Bullwinkle cartoon. They had a good laugh over that, but it didn't last long because Nikki called and needed Victoria to come out to the ranch right away for a family meeting.

The Newmans Commence

When Victoria got to the ranch, Nikki, Victor, and Adam told her about what had happened to Marie. They didn't want to tell Nick, but knew he would find out anyway, so it was best if he heard the news from his family. When Nick arrived, he was sure that his family had staged some sort of intervention, but it was worse than that.

Adam broke the news that Marie had OD'd again and was in the hospital. It turned out that Adam had Marie investigated and had learned that her entire story was a lie. She didn't have family back east and had clearly told Nick that so he wouldn't feel he had to play hero for her.

Nick realized that Marie truly was all alone. "I had no idea she was struggling so much," Nick said. He also wanted to pay for her medical bills. Adam was ready to accompany Nick to the hospital for support, but Nick stopped him. When Nick was outside, he quietly uttered, "Damn you, Joe. You're a dead man.

Meanwhile, Victoria remained loyal to her family and texted Kyle that she would have to meet him another time. He was already at their little hideaway waiting for their rendezvouz when the text arrived.
