On the Friday, September 4, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Nick and Marie get a big surprise at rehab, Lily pleads with Devon, and Jack and Diane make a big discovery.
New Beginnings

Stephanie stopped by Nate's penthouse to pick him up for his big surgery. Nate's nerves were apparent as they discussed new surgical techniques. He worried that he was too behind and might not be able to pick things right back up again. Stephanie assured Nate that he would be an amazing surgeon again one day.
Nate was more grateful than he could express at how supportive Stephanie had been to him during this journey.
At Crimson Lights, Lily told Devon how excited she was about his college and university project. She was glad he seemed to have found his way after worrying about him for so long. Lily would be forced to run Winters by herself when she also had to deal with the Chancellor situation.
Devon didn't think that Lily had much of a leg to stand on with Billy, so she should be grateful that Billy was dropping things for now. That would give Lily a chance to prepare a legal case, but he did not want to get involved. He'd cheer Lily on, but that was it. He also wasn't ready to let Holden come in and help Lily out.
Devon may have made some sort of peace with Holden, but that did not mean he wanted him working for him. Lily argued that Holden was family and also qualified for the job. "I'm not ready for a great group hug, kumbaya moment with the guy," Devon admitted. Devon also assumed that Holden had turned Billy down in order to make a good impression on Lily.
Lily pretty much believed that Devon was being ridiculous and told him that she just wanted both of her brothers to get along with one another. Their conversation came to a stop when Stephanie and Nate walked in and joined them. They made some small talk and encouraged Nate, but then it was time for him to leave for his surgery.
After Nate and Stephanie left, Devon shocked Lily by telling her that he'd give Holden a chance. Apparently, Lily was much more convincing than she had thought. Devon just wanted all the arguing to end.
Message in a Bottle

Diane was in an excited mood when she returned to her Tahitian hotel room with a bottle containing a message that she found when they were in the ocean. They uncorked the bottle so Diane could stick her finger in, but as she tried to retrieve the note, her finger got stuck in the bottle.
Jack helped her get it out by using some lotion, but then Diane's wedding ring ended up in the bottom of the bottle. Jack decided that they could get both items out by using positive energy. "Close your eyes and imagine the ring coming out to this hand," Jack said, so Diane did just that. Lo and behold, it worked. They got both the ring and the note out of the bottle, to find that the note read, "Is all love lost?"
That inspired Diane to write a return message. She penned a note about finding love again after years apart and never giving up. After Diane placed her note in the bottle, Jack placed Diane's ring back on her finger and promised that he would never let her go ever again.
Chaos at Rehab

At rehab, Nick frustratingly told himself that he didn't need drugs when Marie walked in and joked that she didn't see a long line of visitors for him today. Nick admitted that he needed a meeting badly, but Marie didn't want to go. Nick believed that Marie had a strong urge to use and begged her to attend a meeting with him.
Marie finally admitted what was bothering her. Logan, her husband, was coming to visit to discuss the divorce. She just wanted the lawyers to handle things, but he refused. Marie was sick to her stomach at the idea of seeing Logan, due to the way he treated her. "The cruelty and the blame and the constant judgements," Marie said.
Nick offered to be by Marie's side when she met with her husband. "I've dealt with lots of bullies. Fake tough guys who can't take it when you push back," Nick said.
Marie told him to go to a meeting. He wouldn't do her any good and he needed that meeting for himself. "We are going to go to that meeting together. Both of us," Nick said, to give Marie something to hold onto when she met with her husband.
When Logan arrived, he recognized Nick as a rich kid, one of Victor Newman's sons. Logan wanted to speak to Marie alone, so Nick left after assuring his friend that she could handle this. Nick didn't go to a meeting, though. Instead, he eavesdropped and heard Logan asking Marie if she had been bad-mouthing him. She insisted she hadn't even mentioned him. "You better be telling the truth if you're spreading a bunch of lies about me," Logan warned. "Would they be lies, Logan? Cause I'm the only one who really knows who you are. Your secret is safe with me," Marie responded.
Marie asked Logan why he was even there. "I guess I just wanted one last look at the biggest mistake of my life," he answered. A violent Logan grabbed Marie's face and demanded to know if she'd had sex with Nick. Marie fought back and shoved Logan, who fell to the floor and hit his head. When Nick returned, he realized that Logan wasn't moving and told Marie she needed to run. "Did I kill him?" a dazed Marie asked.
Do you think Marie really killed her husband? Do you think the message in the bottle really means something? Let us know in the comments.
